Our Volunteer Drivers connect us to our community.
It’s them that go out each day to pick up our patients from their homes, and bring them into the hospice. Volunteer Driver Mandy:
I’ve been a volunteer for 12 years, and in that time, I’ve met some amazing people.
One of my first ever patients, was a lovely lady who I took to the hospital for her appointment. We set off, with the wheelchair in the boot, she had her appointment, and I sat with her until the family arrived. She was so grateful, she wanted me to have something, and gave me my lovely scottie dog tin. I have it on my worktop – I keep my biscuits in it. It always brings me such happy memories of my volunteering for Dorothy House.
