Amanda desperately wanted to go to her 40th birthday party. Her friends had arranged some very special guests. A large group of firemen.
The nurses, knowing how important it was to her, arranged for her specialist care bed to be dismantled and moved to the Bloomfield Hall, our events space at the hospice, which her friends had decorated and where there was a sizeable collection of firemen. She wore her dress in bed and most importantly, the nurses helped her get her stilettos on.
Despite needing to stabilise her condition several times, Amanda was surrounded by her friends, her family and importantly, lots and lots of firemen on her special day.
